From the lamplighter, who lives solely to keep the lamp lit, to the fox, who brings the importance of bonds and the idea of “taming” into the story, each character has their own details and meaning. 

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, the author of the timeless classic, incorporated parts of his own life into the story. Just like the narrator, Saint-Exupéry loved flying and was a pilot. He joined the French Military in 1921, and even after crashing in 1923, he continued to soar through the skies. 

As a mail pilot, Saint-Exupéry developed an infatuation with the desert, drawing inspiration for the setting of The Little Prince. 

The book has received its own movie adaptation, receiving an amazing 92% on Rotten Tomatoes.  Starring many famous faces such as Rachel McAdams, James Franco, and Rickey Gervais, the movie revolves around a young girl, pressured with expectations of the future, and blends parts of the original story as she learns who the Little Prince is through the pilot, her neighbor. Hearing the ending of the original book enrages the girl, and she wishes to put the whole thing out of her mind. 

Circumstances lead her to search for the Little Prince, however, where she discovers he has grown into an adult and lost the memories of his childhood. Although it deviates from the original content, it still blends the new addition with the book to entertain audiences of all ages.

It reminds humanity of the importance of never repressing their imagination and always cherishing the bonds built throughout life.
