Editorial – ¿Cómo el lugar o ambiente en donde vives impacta el éxito que tienes en la vida?  

How does the place or environment where you live determine or impact the success that you have in life?

Forty five Spanish 6 Honors students wrote an article to answer this question using the resources studied in Unit one.  Here are two of their articles written in Spanish and translated into English.

La influencia del ambiente

En tu vida, el elemento que hace el impacto más grande es su ambiente. tu ambiente es una mezcla de muchas cosas. Incluye tu hogar, sus amigos, sus padres y también situaciones que enfrentes. Su ambiente es clave de desarrollo su personalidad y tus oportunidades. En la clase de español 6 Honores hemos aprendido mucho de cómo un ambiente ha impactado la vida de otras personas.

Uno de los ejemplos de la importancia del ambiente es de la película Spare Parts. En la película había cuatro chicos que eran inmigrantes ilegales y ellos estaban viviendo en pobreza. Por ellos, este ambiente fue un desventaja. Para tener éxito ellos necesitaban enfrentar los mismos retos de otras personas , además de evitar a los agentes de inmigración. Ellos estaban trabajando para ganar una competencia de robótica. Las otras universidades tenían más dinero, y más materiales para trabajar. Entonces, los probabilidades estaban contras de los chicos. Aunque ellos tenían que trabajar más duro de otras personas para ganar sus metas, ellos aprendieron que trabajo duro puede traer éxito en la vida. Cuando ganaron la competencia, esta mente forma la personalidad de ellos y cambiaron ellos a ser trabajadores. Cuando trabajas con sus mejores esfuerzos, otras personas con más dinero, mejores situaciones de vivir, y escuelas más buenas, ni siquiera pueden ganar. Además de esta película, hemos leído Bernardino, un cuento que representa como su ambiente puede cambiar tu personalidad.

En Bernardino, había un chico callado que se llamaba Bernardino. El fue diferente y , por eso, a algunos chicos no les gustaba. Entonces, ellos robaron el perro de Bernardino, que se llamaba Chu, y ellos lo atraparon en el bosque. Cuando Bernardino se dio cuenta de eso, él se perdió su timidez para encontrar su amigo. Entonces, este cuento dice que la situación que Bernardino enfrentó hace hace un cambio de la personalidad de el. Bernardino necesitaba encontrar su amigo pero él era callado y tenía timidez, pero la situación requería confianza y fortaleza. Entonces, en una manera , Bernardino tenía éxito de rescatar Chu porque su ambiente , o la situación, lo cambió a él.

Para concluir, lo que estoy tratando de decir es que su ambiente es muy importante para tener éxito. Para hacer eso, necesitas tener confianza, tener una buena etiqueta de trabajar, y tener un razón para alcanzar por tus metas. Las personas en el cuento Bernardino y la película Spare Parts tienen todos de esas cosas. Los chicos trataron de ganar una competencia y Bernardino quería rescatar su amigo. El misión no es importante, los requisitos para tener éxito son los mismos. Al final, el factor que decide si o no vas a tener esas características es el ambiente de su vida.

The Influence of the Environment

In your life, the element that makes the greatest impact is your environment. Your environment is a mixture of many things. It includes your home, your friends, your parents, and situations that you face. Your environment is key in the development of your personality and your opportunities. In Spanish 6 Honors we have learned a lot about how people’s’ environments have impacted their lives.

One of the examples of the importance of one’s environment is from a movie called Spare Parts. In the movie, there were four boys who were illegal immigrants who were living in poverty. For the boys, their environment was a disadvantage. To be successful, they had to face the same challenges as everyone else, in addition to avoiding the immigration agents. The boys were working towards winning a robotics competition. Other participating universities had more money and more materials to work with. As a result, the odds were against the boys. Although they had to work harder than the other universities to win, the boys learned that hard work can bring success in life. When the boys won the competition, this state of mind shaped their personalities and taught them to be hard workers. When you put forth your best efforts, people with more money, better living situations, and better schooling can’t even beat you. In addition to the movie, our class has also read a book called Bernardino, another story about how your environment can alter your personality.

In Bernardino, there was a quiet boy named Bernardino. He was different and ,because of this, some of the other kids didn’t like him. Because they didn’t like him, some boys stole and trapped Bernardino’s dog: Chu. When Bernardino realized what was happening, he lost his shyness so that he could find his friend. The story shows how the situation Bernardino faced changed his personality. Bernardino needed to find Chu ,but he was quiet and shy, and the situation demanded confidence and strength. So in a way, Bernardino was able to save his dog because the situation he faced changed him.

To conclude, what I am trying to say is that your environment is very important to be successful. To be successful you need to have confidence, have a good work ethic, and have a reason to reach for your goals. The people in Bernardino and Spare Parts have all of these characteristics. The boys tried to win a competition and Bernardino wanted to save his dog. The task is not important, the requirements are all the same in order to achieve success. Ultimately, the factor that decides whether or not you will have these prerequisites is the environment in your life.

El ambiente de tu vida

Muchas de las personas que viven en Wilton, CT tienen éxito en sus vidas. Algunos personas piensan que esto es porque viven en una parte del país que es muy exitosa, pero yo pienso que todas estas personas trabajan muy duro y son muy determinadas con todas las cosas que hacen. Algunas de estas personas no vivían en un pueblo como Wilton cuando eran chicos, pero ahora están viviendo aquí con sus chicos, en un pueblo que ofrecen muchos oportunidades para su familia. En la clase de español 6 honores, nosotros miramos la película ‘Spare Parts’ y leímos la cuenta ‘Bernardino’. Los dos cuentos muestran esta tema.

Los chicos en el película ‘Spare Parts’ vivían en un pueblo con menos oportunidades que Wilton. Su escuela no tenía dinero para deportes y clubes y sus profesores pensaban que no tenían valor. Pero, los cuatro chicos del ‘Spare Parts’ trabajaron muy duro para el competencia de robótica, y ganaron contra universidades como MIT y Cornell, escuelas que tenían mucho dinero para construir su robot. Estaban determinados y trabajaron duro y eso es porque ganaron la competencia y van a tener éxito en sus vidas.

En el cuento del ‘Bernardino’ a el narrador y su hermano no les gusta Bernardino al principio. Pensaban que el es mimado y extraño porque no le gustaba jugar fuera mucho, no le gustaba subir los árboles y nadar en el río. Pero les gusta su perro, Chu, y por eso no les molestaba. Por lo tanto, cuando los chicos del pueblo capturaron a Chu, ayudaron con encontrando el perro. En este adventura, se dieron cuenta del valiente de Bernardino. Él era muy leal a Chu, y por eso debe hacer que necesito a protegerlo. Este cuento muestra que si sigues tus creencias, puedas tener éxito.

En mi vida, yo tengo muchas personas que muestran que puedo hacer qué quiero si trabajo duro. Mi mamá tiene un trabajo de sus sueños, doctora de chicos, y está muy feliz ayudando los chicos todos los días. Se siente muy satisfecha cuando sus pacientes están feliz. Mis abuelos tienen un familia muy feliz y exitosa, y por eso ellos estan feliz. Su trabajo duro ayudo con tener un familia exitosa.

Todos estos personas trabajan muy duro para tener éxito y son de muchos orígenes diferentes. Pero la cosa que tienen en común es todos de ellos son determinados para tener éxito en su vida, y logran sus metas. Eso es porque yo pienso que el lugar o ambiente en donde vives no impacta el éxito que tu tienes en la vida, si trabajas duro y es determinado y leal a tus creencias.

The Environment of Your Life

Many of the people who live in Wilton, CT lead successful lives. Some people think this is because they live in a part of the country that is very successful, but I think it is becauses all of these people work very hard and are more determined with everything they do. Some of these people did not live in a town like Wilton when they were growing up, but not they live here with their kids, in a town that offers many opportunities for their family. In my Spanish 6 honors class, we looked at two stories that show this theme. ‘Spare Parts’, a movie, and ‘Bernardino’, a short story, both show how determination can help you succeed.

The four boys in the movie ‘Spare Parts’ live in a town with many less opportunities than Wilton. Their high school does not have enough money to support their sport teams and clubs and the teachers in their school do not think they are worth anything. However, the four boys from ‘Spare Parts’ worked very hard to build a robot for a underwater robotics competition,and they won against universities like MIT and Cornell, schools that had a lot of money to help build their robots. They were determined and worked hard, and this is why they won the competition and are going to be successful in their lives.

In the short story ‘Bernardino’, the narrator and his brother do not like Bernardino at the beginning. They think he is spoiled and strange because he does not like playing outside much, and he does not like climbing trees and swimming in the river. However, they like his dog, Chu, and because of this they do not bother him. Therefore, when the boys from the village capture Chu, they help Bernardino to help find his dog. While on this adventure, they realize Bernardino’s bravery. He is very loyal to Chu and loves him very much, and because of this he will do whatever he needs to to protect him. This story shows that if you follow your personal beliefs you will be successful.

In my personal life, there are many people who show me that you can do what you want if you work hard. My mom has a job of her dreams, a doctor for kids, and she is very happy helping her patients every day. She feels very satisfied and happy when her patients are happy. My grandparents have a very happy and successful family, and because of the success of their kids and their families, they are happy. Their hard work helped them to have a successful family.

All these people worked very hard to be successful and all are from different beginnings. The quality they have in common is that all of them are determined to have a successful life and achieve their goals. This is why I think the place or environment where you live does not impact the success you have in life if you work hard and are determined and loyal to your beliefs.
