On December 11th, 2024, the Wilton High School Theatre department announced their spring musical Big Fish, based on the 1998 novel by Daniel Wallace.
With music and lyrics written by Andrew Lippa and a book written by John August, the play centers around Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman known for his larger-than-life tales. As his son, Will, prepares to become a father himself, he embarks on a journey to uncover the truth behind his father’s extraordinary stories.
With a cast of over 21 characters, a live orchestra of 17+ musicians, and countless dance numbers, Big Fish is no small feat. But, with the theatre department’s impressive track record of past productions like Mary Poppins and Harry Potter, they are more than prepared to bring the story to life.
“What really separates this show from our past ones is the number of supporting characters that make this show whole; the stage is shared between so many people and, in turn, creates such a beautiful story that I believe Wilton High School Theatre emulates perfectly,” says Nick Somma, who will take on the role of Amos Calloway in the production.
